Definition:

Internal Recruitment is the practice of filling job vacancies from within the organisation. This can include promotions or lateral moves and is often quicker and less costly than external recruitment.

Example:

A Team Leader position opens up in your department. Instead of advertising externally, you first look at your current team members to see if any are suitable and interested in the role.
